Collaborate Through Storytelling

  • Work with as many classes as you want.
  • It's a new experience with a completely new product every single time!

It's a fun, engaging way to get students involved in the writing process

  • See how students go through the writing process from around the globe.
  • Show the importance of adding detail, writing with dialogue, and developing characters!

It's an amazing team building exercise

  • Students must work together to write and illustrate each part of the story.

How it works

  • The Tale Trail is a collaborative storytelling experience. Classes group together to write and illustrate a story through their blogs.
  • It begins with each class brainstorming one or two ideas for a possible topic for the story. A poll is then created and posted on each blog that is taking part in the project as part of an introductory post. Students have the opportunity to vote for what the story will be about. Click here to see an example.
  • After a schedule is set for each class (we gave each class 3 days to complete their part), the first class will begin by taking the topic and writing the first part of the story. They leave off their part of the story with a cliffhanger.
  • The next class will add on to the first part, again following the same idea.
  • This continues on until the last class takes the story and wraps up the story.
  • As each class adds on the next part, the class before will go back and edit their post to put a link at the bottom to the next part of the story. This is the "trail" that takes others through the storytelling journey.

  • Here's an audio book that we all put together of each class reading their part!
